Effective 7th July, 2025.
This contract outlines the terms of your relationship with Liza Express Wellness, both legally and therapeutically. It includes what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how we handle matters such as confidentiality, payment, rescheduling, and scope of service.
1. Service Overview
Liza Express Wellness offers individual therapy, couples therapy, group sessions, and somatic-based therapeutic methods. Each session is tailored according to your intake form and refined during the initial sessions. Our approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), somatic therapy with focus on exercise and mobility (especially where connected to sexual wellbeing), talk therapy, and expressive art therapy (including dance, music, painting, or pottery).
CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours, while REBT helps clients challenge irrational beliefs and develop healthier emotional responses. Somatic therapy helps release trauma stored in the body through movement and physical awareness. Expressive arts therapy allows for emotional expression and healing through creative forms.
The goal of therapy is mutually agreed upon, based on the information you provide at the time of booking and refined after the first and second session.
2. Session Timing
Clients may choose 60, 90, or 120-minute sessions. Couples may book a maximum of 120 minutes per session, once per week. Sessions are not held more than once every five days to allow for integration.
If a client is late, the first 15 minutes are considered part of the session. If the client has not arrived within 30 minutes, the session is cancelled without refund. Clients may reschedule and pay a fee to recover any unused time. Full fees for lateness and rescheduling are available in the official rate card provided by the support team.
3. Session Frequency and Structure
Therapy sessions are limited to one session every five days, though the standard recommendation is once per week. Sessions are structured around the therapeutic goals set collaboratively.
Failure to complete therapeutic assignments may result in additional charges, as uncompleted work reduces the productivity of subsequent sessions.
If a client lies about their age or any other key information during form submission, a correction fee of ₦10,000 will be required to amend the record. If the false information is not corrected, the session will be forfeited. This is because inaccurate information undermines the therapist’s ability to offer age-appropriate and situation-relevant care, rendering the session ineffective.
4. Transfers and Cancellations
If a client decides to change their therapy goal after payment has been made, Liza Express Wellness will transfer the client to a suitable therapist at no extra cost. The new therapist must be chosen from the Liza Express Wellness therapist list. If all suggested options are declined by the client, no refunds will be issued.
In exceptional cases outside the client’s control, a 50% refund for remaining sessions may be considered. For instance, if two out of four sessions have been used, the client may be refunded for one of the two remaining.
If a client chooses to transfer their remaining sessions to another individual, they are required to pay the cost of one session as a transfer fee. For example, if a client has two sessions remaining, the new individual will receive one session. If five sessions remain, the new client will receive four. If the new client wants access to all remaining sessions, they must pay the transfer fee in cash equivalent to the cost of one session.
5. Change of Service
Clients wishing to change their service (e.g. extend a 60-minute session to 90 minutes) will need to pay the rate difference as indicated on the rate card.
If a client wishes to book more sessions beyond the original number purchased, a new booking will be required and subject to the pricing available at the time of the new booking.
6. Change of Goals
Therapy goals must be stated at the time of booking. These goals are reviewed and finalised by the second session.
If new goals are introduced mid-way, additional session time may be required. If a client is unable to extend the session, the therapist will continue to work within the original goals. New goals may be explored during follow-up sessions.
7. Follow-Up Sessions
Follow-up sessions are available only after the completion of an intensive counselling program. They are not stand-alone consultations. These sessions may occur bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly depending on therapist recommendation.
If follow-up sessions are not attended within three months post-intensive therapy, relapses or regressions cannot be attributed to the original therapeutic process. Follow-up sessions are essential and non-negotiable in ensuring sustainable healing and behavioural change.
8. Privacy and Confidentiality
Confidentiality is assured for all booked and paid sessions. Sessions are not recorded or stored on any cloud platform. Text-based documentation is maintained by therapists for tracking progress.
This documentation is accessible to clients after every four-session cycle and is stored for up to two years. After two years without follow-up, therapy will be considered concluded and records archived. However, in legal cases involving the client’s safety or life, records may be retrieved up to 10 years from the session date.
9. Emergency Exceptions to Confidentiality
Confidentiality may be breached only when the client is in imminent danger to themselves or others, in cases of child or elder abuse, or when legally compelled through a court subpoena.
In such cases, relevant information may be shared with psychiatrists, legal authorities, or trusted family members to ensure client safety.
10. Teletherapy Protocol
Liza Express Wellness uses Google Meet for teletherapy. Clients are responsible for securing a quiet, private location and a reliable internet connection. Each link provided is valid for up to four sessions.
Clients are advised to delete links after use to avoid accidental access by third parties. The limitations of teletherapy include the potential for external interruptions or server-side security breaches, though every effort is made to mitigate such risks.
11. Client Responsibilities
Clients are expected to attend sessions on time, maintain privacy, complete assignments, and participate with openness. Sessions must not be attended under the influence of drugs or alcohol, unless explicitly approved as part of the therapeutic goal.
Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice. Failure to adhere to these expectations may result in fines or reduced session effectiveness.
12. Supervision and Referral
Liza Express Wellness therapists may consult with supervisors for quality assurance. In such cases, only session titles or limited identifying information may be shared.
If your needs extend beyond the expertise of your therapist, you may be referred to another therapist within or outside our network.
13. Dual Relationship
To protect client anonymity, Liza Express Wellness does not engage with clients on social media or public platforms. Client identity will not be acknowledged publicly.
If emotional dependency or dual relationships arise that compromise professionalism, the client will be reassigned to another therapist within the network.
14. Agreement to Terms
By booking a session with Liza Express Wellness, you confirm that you understand and agree to all the policies and responsibilities outlined above. This contract ensures clarity, structure, and professionalism in your therapeutic journey.
